The mission of our treatment foster care program is to help
emotionally and behaviorally challenged children learn to live successfully
within a family setting. Many of the children we serve have been removed
from their own home because of neglect or abuse. These children are
in treatment foster care because of the severity of the problems that
they have. Treatment Foster Care provides an alternative to care in
a residential treatment facility. Within this program, children are
taught family and community living skills, which help them learn to
deal effectively with their problems. Our TFC program serves a broad population of children with multiple problems. These children range in age from early childhood to age eighteen. Children from all over New Mexico are considered for this program. Our treatment foster families are in Bernalillo, Sandoval, Torrance, and Valencia Counties in New Mexico. NMPCR trains and licenses families with a desire and ability to provide homes for children for children with behavioral or emotional challenges. We provide support and reimbursement to foster families and act as a liaison for the foster families with CYFD social workers and other personnel.
